Satellite image of the Mars 2020 spacecraft approaching Mars on 18th February 2021. The spacecraft has deployed its parachute to slow its descent to the planet's surface. It's landing target is Jezero crater. The spacecraft is carrying the Perseverance rover, which will study the geology of Mars and search for signs of life. Mars 2020 launched on 30th July 2020. Image obtained by the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera on NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) spacecraft.
