Cartwheel galaxy group taken by the Hubble Space Telescope in optical wavelengths. The Cartwheel galaxy (right) has a complicated structure thought to be due to a collision with a smaller galaxy that passed through the middle of the Cartwheel galaxy. Hot, star forming regions are shown in blue. The Cartwheel galaxy (also known as PGC 2248 or ESO 350-40) is located about 500 million light-years away from Earth in the constellation Sculptor.
