Side view of a poplar hawkmoth caterpillar (Laothoe populi) resting on a willow branch in a garden habitat. The flight period is May to July with a single brood each year. This species is a member of the Sphingidae family and is found throughout the UK, Europe and the palearctic ecozone. The larval food plants are poplar, aspen and sallow, amongst other trees.
