Sebastian Kneipp (1821-1897), German priest. Kneipp was one of the founders of naturopathy, promoting hydrotherapy, herbalism, exercise, nutrition and spirituality. Kneipp claimed his hydrotherapy (short dips in the icy waters of the Danube) cured his pulmonary tuberculosis by taking. This may have been due to the stimulation of his immune system. In 1886 he wrote 'My Water Cure', which brought thousands to his ministry in Bavaria. Reproduction of an original print from 1881.
