Henry Hallett Dale (1875-1968), British pharmacologist and physiologist. He is best known for his work on acetylcholine, a neurotransmitter, and his research on the nature of chemical transmission of nerve impulses. For this work, Dale shared the Nobel Prize in medicine or physiology with German-born pharmacologist Otto Loewi in 1936.
