Coloured cryo scanning electron micrograph (SEM) of rose aphids (Macrosiphum rosae) on a rose stem. Aphids occur in red and green morphs which aids camouflage on the rose. They feed by sucking sap through the stylet and exude small quantities of honeydew which acts as a substrate for black sooty moulds.
