Portrait of a Common Buzzard, Buteo buteo. This medium bird of prey has made a remarkable recovery in the UK since the middle of the 20th century and is now seen regularly across the country. It also has a very large range across Eurasia and into North Africa. Photographed at Rocher des Aigles, Rocamadur, France, a raptor breeding organisation where birds are free flown. Markings are very variable on this species.
