Reticular fibres in human pituitary gland, light micrograph. By its origin and structure, the posterior pituitary (also called pars nervosa) resembles nervous tissue. The silver staining method for the demonstration of reticular fibres shows the scarce development of these fibres, which always appear associated with blood vessels.
