The column and urn on the right is for William Young Birch (1764-1837), a native of Manchester, England, who moved to the states in 1793 and established himself as a bookseller and stationer in Philadelphia. The rural cemetery was built 1836-1839 after the designs of John Notman at 3822 Ridge Avenue.
