Alirocumab is a human monoclonal antibody which is used to treat high cholesterol in adults whose cholesterol is not controlled by diet and statin treatment. It is an antibody to PCSK9 (proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9), a circulating protein that modulates the activity of cholesterol receptors in the liver.
