Inflating of NASA's Super Pressure Balloon for its second test flight. The Super Pressure Balloon launched from Wanaka Airport, New Zealand on the 17th of May 2015. The purpose of the flight was to test super balloon technology at mid-latitudes and for a flight duration of more than 100 days. The test flight was also the first time that a super pressure balloon carried a science payload: Compton Spectrometer and Imager (COSI), a soft gamma ray survey telescope. After travelling for 46 days, 20 hours, and 19 minutes the balloon landed in Peru on the 2nd of July 2015.
