Old lists of pubs have Heelis as prop[rietor], & I knew a man of that name some forty years back, whose bibulous habits would seem to indicate a \'son of the Manse\', or rather Public House, which is not perhaps (precisely) necessarily the same thing. I remember noting in one of the old Guide Books, that a J. Heelis ran the principal hotel in Ramsey, \'directly facing the sea\' in the forties of last century.
