Flap front with bodice attached to front skirt. Long sleeves lined to elbow. Ribbon sash (torn) attached at back. Two loops for drawstring front waist. Skirt with flap tying at waist. Worn by a Mrs Mabbott who owned a confectionery shop with her husband in Shude Hill, Manchester & was wearing this dress when caught up in the Peterloo agitation in 1819. John Mabbott appears in the J Pigot 1828 Directory as a confectioner in Piccadilly.); by Manchester Art Gallery .
