Meninges surrounding the brain, pia mater, arachnoid, dura mater, bones of the skull. The brain is surrounded by the meninges made up of several layers and structures. From the inside to the outside the brain is covered by the pia mater, a pink leaflet. Above the arachnoid is the subarachnoid space. This space is delimited by the pia mater and the arachnoid represented in pink. The dura is the thick pinkish beige layer between the two white layers. Between the inferior leaflet of the dura mater and the arachnoid is a small virtual subdural space. The meninges and the brain are surrounded by the bone of the skull. See also illustration n5928
