According to various texts of Buddhism of the Great Vehicle, it was on the Vulture Peak, near the city of Rajagriha, capital of the kingdom of Magadha, that the Buddha taught the Prajnaparamita or Transcendent Knowledge, thus moving the wheel of the Dharma for the second time. According to the Lotus Sutra, only the most eclarious disciples were able to follow this esoteric teaching. In the upper part of the thangka, ten images of the Buddha teaching on the mountain unfold among the clouds, evoking the ten directions of space and the universal dimension of Buddhist Law. In the center: the sermont of the Pic des Vautours. At the bottom left: the disciples question the value of Buddha\'s teaching.
