Germans Lose Nine Planes in Reprisal Raid on The London Area. R.A.F. officers examining the wreckage of a JU.88 which was brought down and finally crashed in a recreation ground, narrowly missing some houses, on the outskirts of London. For the first time since May 1941, German planes raided the London area as a "reprisal" for the R.A.F. heavy blitz on Berlin. Nine of the raiders were destroyed during the attack Bomb damage was hot heavy. January 18, 1943.
