U.S. Armor moves to attack Germans in Belgium a U.S. tank destroyer of the Third U.S. Armored Division advances in a line of U.S. armored units on a Belgian road near Malempre, in the northern flank of the German salient in the Ardannes. The units are on the way to attack German tanks and positions in operations against a counter-attack launched by the enemy December 16, 1944, into Luxembourg and Southern Belgium. Malompre lies west of Vielsalm in the sector where Allied forces hold 15 miles of the road between St. Vith and Laroche, January 8, 1945, and were within six miles of the main road from St. Vith to Houffalize.
