Two Hartnell gowns to be worn at the Coronation. The fuller dress is of heavy satin, lavishly embroidered with glass bugles cascading down the front. The other is made of lace covered entirely with hand sewn sequins, paillettes and crystals. Note the entire absence of full skirts, sleeves and other accessories now customary on evening gowns. They are utterly severe in design, yet graceful, and rely on style for their charm. October 24, 1952. (Photo by Daily Mirror).
