The "Pamir" Overhauls Sails The crew of the Pamir look down on a long line of steamship their cargo as they clamber aloft. A spectacle not witnessed in London Docks for many, many years can now be seen in the Royal Victoria Docks, where the 4-master windjammer Pamir is berthed after her 80 days voyage from New Zealand. After a brief spell of rest over Xmas, the crew is new busy at the arduous task of over-hauling the majestic vessel's thousands of square feet of canvas. With the crew clambering over the rigging high above the noise activity that is London Docks, the Pamir presents a picturesque contrast to her surroundings. December 21, 1947. (Photo by Fox Photos).
