Tanks And Troops Storm South Coast Beaches In Amphibious "Invasion". Today in operation Runaground III, "enemy" forces, consisting of men of the Gloucesters, Royal Marine Commandos, and Hussars with Centurion, Sherman and Caurchlli tanks,stormed the beach at Eastney, near Portsmouth is the biggest combined amphibious exercise since the war. Frognen dropped from a plane led the way, arid support was given to the landing from RAP and; Navy aircraft Helicopters were used for the first time in a landing and the Royal Engineers provided an impressive display of flashes and bangs for atmosphere.
