"How do you go about stopping three or four burly forwards pelting down the field with the ball at toe?" Bob was asked. "I hope that before they are too close one of them will kick it just a little too hard and five me a chance to whip in, pick it up and get out. Otherwise there is nothing I can do but turn sideways on and throw myself at the ball and the players' feet." Here Bob shows two of the younger fullbacks of the Ponsonby Club for which he also plays how it is done. Archie Whorskey (far side) is full back for the fifth grade team and Doug Teague plays in that position for the fourths. May 31, 1948.
