Perspex Top for Royal Tour Cars: Offering perfect weather protection while affording the public a good view of the occupants is the molded Perspex top fitted to the Hooper Open Touring body of this Daimler 'Straight Light' car. The car and the top -- largest single piece of molded transparent plastic ever used for commercial purpose - are the model for the cars to be used on the tour of Australia & New Zealand by Princess Elizabeth and the Lake of Edinburgh in 1952. Design of the plastic top is an improvement on the one used in their Royal Highnesses tour of Canada. The visible framework has been eliminated. December 31, 1951. (Photo by Reuterphoto).
