Admiralty Built Tanker For Australian Government - The "Tide Austral" entering the water after the launching ceremony. The fast replenishment tanker "Tide Austral" has just been launched at the Musgrave Yard of Messrs Harland and Wolff Ltd, at Belfast. The naming ceremony was performed by Mrs. Foley, wife of captain J.B. Foley, C.B.E.. A.D.C.. R.A.N. Royal Australian Naval Liaison Officer London, who was also present. A bottle of Australian wine was used in naming the vessel. The extreme length of 583 feet (550 feet between perpendiculars) the "Tide Austral" has a beam of 71 feet and deadweight of 17,700 tons.
