A giant rotating washing machine at the De Beers Diamond mines, Kimberley. Thousands of tons of gravel and water are fed into this machine daily, and once the scum, dirt and sludge are washed away the clean gravel is tapped, and allowed to run onto a table which has been specially constructed to retain diamonds. October 10, 1952.
