Flowers of the Veldt -- Charming in costume the veldt saw more than a hundred years ago, these three youngsters - Hyla (left): Nerida (centre) and Ina Bredekamp - are attending the Voortrekker celebrations in Pretoria, South Africa. They've a special interest in the festivities for they are great-grandnieces of famed Boer Isader 'Oom Paul' Kruger. More than 100,000 people are attending the ceremonial opening on December 16th - of the South African Voortrekker Monument commemorating the great trek of Boers in 1835 from British rule.
