Blood For American Soldiers Injured In Normandy -- Containers of blood, to be used for transfusions for wounded American soldiers, are lined up at an airfield in Normandy after being delivered by a U. S. Amy transport plane. The American truck will carry the blood (marked ETO for the European Theater of Operations) to emergency hospitals at the front. Men and Women of the United States have donated 6,500,000 pints (4,000,000 liters) of blood to the American Red Cross for treating casualties of war. August 21, 1944.
