All-sky map of the Milky Way showing the speed at which 30 million objects, mainly stars, move away or towards us. This is known as radial velocity. Dark regions show stars moving towards us and light regions show stars moving away from us. The Large Magellanic Cloud (LMC) and Small Magellanic Cloud (SMC) are seen as bright spots on the lower right. The globular cluster galaxy is seen as a dark spot to the left of the SMC. The Sagittarius dwarf galaxy is seen as a vertical stripe below the Galactic Centre.
