Lijiang, Yunnan China - 25 October 2006; no people in view. Lijiang is a famous UNESCO-listed ancient city in Yunnan Province of China. This beautiful tethered falcon was spotted in Baisha Old Town of the city; this dates back to ancient times when it was the centre of silk embroidery in the southwest of China and the most important stopping place along the Southern Silk Road. With the old roof tiles and bamboo in shot, the composition has the feel of an ancient Chinese painting, I feel.
