Bear signet. 1899 (model). Bronze; patinated brown. 12.3 x 6.3 x 3cm. Signed and dated on the post top: O Gaul 99. In marble base (4 x 11.5 x 11.5cm).

The bottom of the post is a Siegellack-stamp.

Enclosed is a copy of a certificate by Ulrich Gronert; Berlin; of August 5th 2008. In it Ulrich Gronert speaks of an "old cast; made during Gaul's lifetime." Due to the estate stamp; however; this should be a cast made after the artist's death; presumably a very early cast after the artist's death at that. The cast is particularly beautiful and elaborate. The base; too; is unique.
