Molecular model of the pair of microtubules that form the central apparatus of an axoneme, the core of a cilium or flagellum. Cilia and flagella are hair-like protrusions from a cell membrane. The microtubules of the central apparatus are extensively modified, with asymmetric protein projections along their length and bridges between the pair.
