Thailand. Ayutthaya. Presumably 14th/15th century.

Sandstone covered with black lacquer and residue of gilding. Head of a large Buddha from the early Ayutthaya period. On the stone under the lacquer still visible are remains of a drawing in the area around the eyes. Height 36cm. Condition B.
