Hat veil from application side with cornflowers and daisies; Hat veil from application side: bobbin lace appliqued on machine tulle. Rectangular model. The repeating pattern consists of three rows with a widely spread single calyx among a few leaves. Between the successive calyx flowers in the bottom row hangs a flower branch with one daisy and two smaller flowers and leaves. The pattern is denser along the underside of the veil and consists of a horizontal flower branch with two daisies; three cornflowers or carnations and a few other and smaller flowers. Most of the leaves are elongated and more or less oval in shape with some leaves cut and curling. The flowers and a few leaves that hang down on the branch form scallops along the underside of the veil; which are linked together with other leaves that have been applied along the underside to form the scallop edge. A modified scalloped edge continues along the short sides of the veil. The motifs are made of linen with openwork edges and they are partly provided with contour threads. Cloned relief contours have been applied at various places along (flower) leaves. Shapes are used in flowers (one or a few per motif) and in ornamental soils; mainly in the daisies. The motifs are connected by a mechanical lawn. The shell edge along the bottom and the short sides are finished with picots. The top is finished with a clinked edge of openwork ovals.; anonymous; Brussels; c. 1825 - c. 1849; linen (material); l 127 cm x w 44 cm x; 21 cm
