Strip of bobbin lace with continuous wavy tendril with berries and butterfly; Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Mechelen lace. The repeating pattern consists of a continuous and wavy branch with small leaves on both sides; a single short branch with a berry on it and a few flowers. There is a butterfly or butterfly-shaped flower at the beginning of each wave crest; the branch loops twice within one wave. The faintly scalloped underside is formed by a double narrow pendulum; which forms a succession of pointed oval-shaped cartouches. Under each golf top there is always a larger cartouche in the pattern along the bottom edge; with a leaf twig and a star-shaped flower. The motifs are connected by a fine mesh ground; the Mechelen ground. The motifs are made in linen with thicker and shiny contour threads. Various decorative grounds have been used in the cartouches along the bottom; in the loops; berries and flower hearts. The faintly scalloped bottom comes from the pattern with the double pendulum and is finished with picots. The upper side is finished with a separately straightened straight strap.; anonymous; Mechelen (possibly); c. 1770 - c. 1780; linen (material); Mechlin (lace); l 90 cm x w 5.5 cm x; 11.5 cm
