Strip of bobbin lace with reserves and poppy bulbs and flowers; Strip of natural-colored bobbin lace: Mechelen lace. The repeating pattern consists of a reserve; which is cut by a branch with poppy bulbs and poppy flowers. Along the underside; two reserves lie against each other; with different fillings and framed by concatenated leaves and pointed ovals. In the middle between the two reserves a branch with three flowers originates; each with six oval petals. The motifs are connected by a fine mesh soil. Ornamental soils with coarser meshes are used in the reserves. The motifs are made of linen with few cut-outs and with thick contour threads. The faintly scalloped bottom is finished with picots. A strip of tulle is sewn along the straight upper side.; anonymous; Southern Netherlands; c. 1750 - c. 1770; linen (material); Mechlin (lace); l 52.5 cm x w 8 cm l 50 cm x w 4.5 cm x; 17.5 cm
