Bust portrait of Louis XVII in biscuit de porcelaine; as a boy of about 7 years with long locks up to the shoulders; wearing a chemisette with lace collar; on the chest left wide open; over it a sash from the right shoulder. The left shoulder is wrapped in a drapery drawn across the chest; mounted on a pedestal of dark ultramarine porcelain with golden piping. The mark is that of the manufacture royale de Sevres: jumbled; mirror-like L's; the loop of which; however; is not closed as usual; but open. This contains a small R; in addition a fashion designer brand; consisting of two crossed brackets; similar to Gatrice's; which; as far as is known; operated from 1757-74; while this bust cannot be older than 1792.
