Cottage Where U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt Died. This is the cottage, known as the "Little White House" in Warm Springs, Georgia, where U.S. President Franklin Delano Roosevelt died suddenly on April 12, 194-5. Warm Springs is a resort in the southern U.S. which Mr, Roosevelt helped develop into a center for the treatment of victims of infantile paralysis. In a solemn ceremony a few hours after the President's death, Vice President Harry S, Truman was sw6m in as 32nd President of the United States. The ceremony took place in the Executive Mansion in Washington, the U.S. capital Mr. Truman pledged himself to carry on in the office as he believes President Roosevelt would have done. ''The world may be sure," he said, "that we will prosecute the war, on both fronts, East and West, with all the vigor we possess, to a successful conclusion." April 24, 1945.
