New Cable Ship Sails Tomorrow -- The Cable ship "Recorder" at her moorings off Greenwich, from where she shipped her submarine cable. Britain's most modern cable repair ship, the 3,300 ton "Recorder" which is the latest addition to Cable and Wireless Ltd's fleet of 8 cable ships - of which she is the largest and fastest, leaves tomorrow, Thursday, on her postponed maiden voyage. Her first task will be to renew 120 miles of cable between Land's End and Gibraltar, and the new ship will eventually be based at Singapore from where she will help to maintain the 20,000 miles sections in the Far East and Wireless Ltd's 150,000 miles British Commonwealth cable system.
