Fishermen unload sharks in the ports of the Azores, the sharks mostly blue sharks (Prionace glauca) are fished in the water around the islands and sent directly to the asian market for fins. Most of this is done by international fishing fleets, mostly Spanish. Traditional fishing in the Azores is known for its moderate impact on ecosystems. The blue shark is currently listed as "Near Threatened" by the World Conservation Union (IUCN). Horta, Faial island, Azores, Portugal, Atlantic Ocean.
