LEFT: La Scuola Grande di San Marco : designed by the well-known Venetian architects Pietro Lombardo; Mauro Codussi; and Bartolomeo Bon. It was originally the home to one of the Scuole Grandi of Venice; or six major confraternities; but is now the city's hospital. RIGHT: The Basilica di Santi Giovanni e Paolo; known as San Zanipolo.(Basilica St. John and Paul; basilique des Saints Jean et Paul; Zanipolo kirche). One of the largest churches in the city; it has the status of a minor basilica. After the 15th century the funeral services of all of Venice's doges were held here; and twenty-five doges are buried in the church.
