LARGE IVORY HISTORICISM TANKARD WITH HUNTING SCENE.
Meiningen. Ca. 1850. Johann Lebrecht Wilhelm Schulz (1774-1864) attributed.

Ivory turned and carved. Inside vermeil inlays. Slightly oval shape. On the wall a many-figured hunting scene with hunters on horse and a pack of hounds; bringing down two bears. On the curved handle a bear climbs upward followed by a hunting hound. Flat hinged lid with central blossom application. Height 28.5cm.
On the inside of the lid with ink "von Schultz von Meiningen gearbeitet" (worked by Schultz of Meiningen).
Condition B. Modern wood base.
