Differential interference contrast light micrograph of Synura sp. golden alga colonies. The are common in Sphagnum bogs and other fresh-water lakes and ponds. These motile spherical colonies have yellow brown plastids and are covered with siliceous scales. Magnification: x475 when printed at 10 centimetres wide at its longest edge.
