EarthCARE's (Earth Clouds, Aerosols and Radiation Explorer) 25 sq m and 10m long solar arrays being automatically deployed and illuminated to test electrical connections. EarthCARE (Earth Clouds, Aerosols and Radiation Explorer) will be the sixth satellite of the European Space Agency's (ESA) Living Planet Programme. The mission's aim is to observe and characterize clouds and aerosols as wells as to measure the reflected solar radiation and infrared radiation emitted from the Earth's surface.
