Loperamide diarrhoea drug. Capsules of the anti-diarrhoea drug loperamide. Loperamide is used to treat acute diarrhoea and to control some forms of chronic diarrhoea. It is an opioid agonist that reduces the muscular contractions of the intestine (peristalsis). This allows for more water to be absorbed from the stool, slowing the emptying of the gut.
