Ferrara: memorial plaque (marble); at left hand site of entrance to Sinagogues and Jewish Museum of Ferrara; The inscription on the memorial plaque (Italian and Hebrew) records the six million Jewish victims of racial hate in Europe during the Holocaust; the 8;000 Jewish victims from Italy since 8th of September 1943; and more than 150 Jewish victims from city of Ferrara. The building in an area; used by Jewish people since 1485 and at Via Mazzini; formerly known as Via dei Sabbioni and main road through the once Ferrara Ghetto; houses three synagogues: the Scola tedesca (German Synagogue) (also: Tempio Tedesco; German Temple); the Scola Fanese (also: Oratorio Fanese); and the Scola Italiana (Italian rite synagogue). As well; there is the Jewish Museum (Museo Ebraico); which shows as well the keys to the Ferrara ghetto which was closed at night; from 1627 to 1859.
