In the middle of the 6th century B.C. a form with a sharply set shoulder was designed; in the late 6th century B.C. a variant with a rounded shoulder; the Kalpis; followed. The shoulder image of this Kalpis shows two women sitting opposite each other in long robes and with coats draped over their shoulders. In front of each of them stands a Kalathos; a funnel-shaped vessel in which wool was stored and prepared for further processing. The woman on the left has taken a large ball of wool out of the vessel; the one on the right puts back an untwisted thread. In her left hand led to her mouth she holds a flower (?). Several leaf tendrils are attached in the background. In their hair both women wear a ribbon or a diadem. Their skin is colored white in the usual way. The robes are decorated with circles and red dots. The field of the picture has a contrasting line running around it.
