Illustration of a glutathione S-transferase (GST) 1 molecule from the hookworm human parasite Necator americanus in complex with glutathione. This enzyme plays a role in the digestion of host haemoglobin by the adult hookworm. It is being investigated for use in a vaccine against hookworm infection. Hookworms are intestinal parasites that feed on their host's blood causing anaemia.
