Illustration of a complex between the dimeric mitofilin domain of the Mic60 subunit and the CHCH domain of the Mic19 subunit of the mitochondrial contact site and cristae organizing system (MICOS). Mitochondria are cell organelles that oxidise sugars and fats to produce energy for the cell. The reactions that produced energy occur on a part of the inner membrane with invaginations called cristae. Cristae junctions connect the cristae to the inner boundary membrane of the inner membrane. This Mic60-Mic19 complex controls cristae junction architecture and function.
