They were sited near where Pets\' Corner is now. This picture shows the area before the Busy Cottage Ironworks was built in about 1780. The watercolour is part of a group of sketches of North-East and London scenes painted by William Beilby in 1774. Beilby was a decorator of expensive glassware, and a drawing teacher. He left Newcastle in about 1778 for Battersea in London); Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums.
