Poland; city of Poznan (former German: Posen): Cryptologist Monument (detail) in front of west wing (main entrane) of Imperial Castle (Polish: Zamek Cesarski): The cryptologist Monuiment; also called Enigma Code Breakers Monument; was unveiled in 2007. Designers were sculptors Grazyna Bielska-Kozakiewicz and Mariusz Krzysztof Kozakiewicz. The memorial is a stele in form of a prism with three sides. Each side is 1.20 m wide; 3.10 m high; and made of bronze. Each side shows sequences of numbers (digits) and the name of one of the three enigma code breakers in capital letters. In 1932; the Polish cryptanalysts Marian Rejewski (1905 - 1980); Jerzy R髗ycki (1909 - 1942) and Henryk Zygalski (1908 - 1978) broke the German rotor-key machine Enigma. The project of the cryptologist monument was promoted by the Poznan Society of Friends of Science (Polish: Poznanskie Towarzystwo Przyjaci髄 Nauk); since 2003; and supported by Polish president Aleksander Kwasniewski.
