Niou Huella Ecomuseum. 2 houses; centuries old; in which one can discover the traditional home style of the islanders. Houses were generally built with gables to the east and west; while the house front faced south. The western gable rarely had any openings; giving the the strong prevailing winds coming in from the open sea. The house was divided into two symmetrical rooms; the Penn Ludu (where day to day life went on) and the Penn Brao ( reserved for special occasions and moments of peace and quiet). The hallway was formed by lines of wardrobes and each room had a hearth; two big tables; settle-benches; dressers and closed-in beds. Island of Ouessant. Finist鑢e. Brittany. Atlantic Coast. France.
